April is “National Child Abuse Prevention Month” in the United States and this year marks the 40th anniversary of the “Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act”. But, no matter which country you live in, we invite you to take this time to learn more about this topic and share with people in your communities as child abuse remains a global problem and it comes in many forms!
Often when we hear the term, we think of children being exually abused or beaten by another person. We often overlook the many institutions and systems that contribute to the abuse of our children! Insufficient shelter, food, education, clean water etc. are all forms of abuse and we must continue to speak out about these abuses beyond the designated month!
According to the Child Welfare Agency, (CWA)
National Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families. During the month of April and throughout the year, communities are encouraged to share child abuse and neglect prevention awareness strategies and activities and promote prevention across the country. In recognition of the 40th anniversary of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, we have designed a historical timeline of significant moments in child abuse prevention in the United States
The folks at Paltech Inc created a detailed timeline of the activities and issues related to the Child Abuse Prevention Act which became law in 1974. The act provided Federal assistance to States for prevention, identification, and treatment programs.
Sadly, even all of these years later and event with this law in place, child abuse still remains a challenge to not only the United States but around the globe.

We recently created a Child Safety Kit which we believe is a first step to keeping our children safe. This is just a first step for us and we will continue our efforts to help eradicate child abuse! You can sign-up for a kit which includes a fingerprint strip, while supplies last.
As always, wishing you happy times until our paths cross again!
